Mrs Jackson – Senior Teacher

When did you start in Glengormley High and what roles have you undertaken?
I started Glengormley High School in 1991 as a year 8 pupil. After pursuing Further Education at the University of Ulster I returned to work as a PE teacher at Glengormley High School in September 2004. Since then I have held positions as Head of Girls PE, Teacher in Charge of Performing Arts, Head of Year and Pastoral Learning Leader. In September 2018 I began my role as a Senior Teacher.

What is your key function in Glengormley High School?
As a past pupil myself I feel passionately about seeing every child reach their full potential. I will work to ensure that as far as possible the barriers that children face to learning are removed and they can achieve. I will build close relationships with pupils, parents and staff to ensure that our school community is one where everyone feels respected and valued.

Tell us one thing about you that most people wouldn’t know!
Despite measuring up at 5ft I represented Northern Irish Universities playing Basketball at the British University Games.
