December 2016 Fundraising

Discovery had a coffee/breakfast morning to raise money for one of their 6th year pupils – Serianna Rourke (DDM). The North Belfast Area project are providing Serianna and a group of other young people from North Belfast with the opportunity to go to India from the 10th to the 24th April 2017. A team of other young people and herself will work with the charity Smyrna to help disadvantaged young people, as well as the elderly. The international visits allow young people to witness the harsh reality of poverty while also widening their perspectives and learning about different cultures.

This year we will continue to sponsor the education of 3 young people. This will pay for their uniform, books, school meals and transport to school. Serianna will also have the opportunity to meet the three young people being sponsored.

We have also been selling raffle tickets within our Pastoral Learning Group. The winner (Sophie McGookin) was announced in assembly on Friday 6th January 2017 & the final amount raised was £100.

Thank you to ALL the form tutors for bringing in the supplies & for Mr Carleton taking the photos! A BIG thank you to those who have also made donations within the group!
