Fresh from his victory in Belfast here comes the Jackal again. This time his challenger is Glengormley High! What will happen when Carl comes home to his old school? Let’s hope he returned all his library books and doesn’t owe anybody homework!

U16 Football stars representing Northern Ireland

Congratulations to Aimme-Lee Peachey and Danielle Maxwell who spent the week with the Northern Ireland Under 17 teams competing in the UEFA Womens Under 17’s tournament.  The tournament took place at the Riada Tournament in Ballymoney.

The girls played Kosovo on Wenesday – they won 5-1, Aimee-Lee was captain.  On Friday they played Luxemburg and won 2-0.  The final match was against the Faroe Island team on Sunday morning and team were victorious again – winning 5-0.

Well done to both girls whose determination and hard work has led them to the point where they are preparing for the Under 17’s Euros later in the year.

Boxing success

Congratulations to Jude Molyneaux and Kyle Smith who are the new national champions for their weight classes in the Irish Athletic Boxing Association.

The boys are members of Holy Trinity Boxing club and they and we are extremely proud of them and their acheivements over the last 12 months.

The boys are now Antrim, Ulster and Irish Champions!

Year 8 Girls complete couch to 5K


6 weeks ago the year 8 girls embarked on a couch to 5k challenge. At the start of the process the girls did the bleep test to gauge their fitness. The girls have worked so hard and completed the 5k challenge and on Friday 23rd Feb they retested their fitness. We are so proud of each and every one of them as they SMASHED their initial scores! Their grit and determination was outstanding. Well done all of you!

Cross Country Competition news Feb 2018

After qualifying from the District competition, Kyle Smith & Steven Crumlin competed in the Ulster Under-12 Cross Country finals today.  From a field of 151 competitors over a distance of 1.7km; Kyle finished in 21st position & Steven in 44th place.

 Unfortunately only those placed in the top 15 qualify for the Irish Finals.

U18 Football Success in Northern Plate

The U18 Football team beat Castlederg High School in the Northern Plate today by 3 – 0.

Goal scorers were Calum Smith, Luke Wiley & an own goal by CHS; Karl Beggs was man of the match, producing 4-5 fantastic saves throughout the second half when the score was only 1 – 0.

 The pupils were a credit to the school & all 15 played an important part; but more importantly all the pupils enjoyed the match & the experience.

Lois McGrath in Year 8 is an up and coming swimming star, next week she is taking part in the Ulster Secondary Swimming Championships at the Aurora Leisure Centre in Bangor.  She is pictured here with Mr Office our Head of PE and a former Ulster Swimmer.  #ghssportstars

Daina’s back on winning form in Judo

Daina Cardwell has recently competed in the Swords Judo Championships and won silver, over three bouts, at the weekend. Daina has re-embarked on her Judo pursuits after having focussed on wrestling in recent years.  #ghssportstars

In Glengormley High School we are proud of the fact that our students are competitive and successful in a wide variety of sports.

 Equally it is important for us to allow as many young people as possible to enjoy competition and achieve success at their own level.  Our most popular competitive sports are; netball, hockey, football, rugby and athletics. Pupils also represent the school at cheerleading, judo, wrestling, aerobics, cross country, dance, girls football and table tennis.
