Congratulations to Aimme-Lee Peachey and Danielle Maxwell who spent the week with the Northern Ireland Under 17 teams competing in the UEFA Womens Under 17’s tournament. The tournament took place at the Riada Tournament in Ballymoney.
The girls played Kosovo on Wenesday – they won 5-1, Aimee-Lee was captain. On Friday they played Luxemburg and won 2-0. The final match was against the Faroe Island team on Sunday morning and team were victorious again – winning 5-0.
Well done to both girls whose determination and hard work has led them to the point where they are preparing for the Under 17’s Euros later in the year.
On Thu 22nd March Staff & sixth form held another coffee morning to raise money for Cash For Kids. Once again this created a positive atmosphere within the staff room, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We also had Lara Wilgaus from Year 11 play us a few tunes on her guitar which was brilliant. We would just like to thank ALL who brought in buns/cake faked or baked – it was another successful fundraiser for Glengormley High. We raised £186.54 from today’s event – thank you to all who donated money.
In total we have raised an amazing £1253.07 from a combination of the 5K a day completed by some members of staff and the coffee morning today.
During the month of February a number of our staff ran or walked 5K a day to raise money for the Cash for Kids appeal being run by Cool FM. A total of £1066 was raised for the charity and will be passed to the charity.
Mrs Handley was interviewed by Cool FM during the month, you can listen to the interview by clicking on the link below;
6 weeks ago the year 8 girls embarked on a couch to 5k challenge. At the start of the process the girls did the bleep test to gauge their fitness. The girls have worked so hard and completed the 5k challenge and on Friday 23rd Feb they retested their fitness. We are so proud of each and every one of them as they SMASHED their initial scores! Their grit and determination was outstanding. Well done all of you!
After qualifying from the District competition, Kyle Smith & Steven Crumlin competed in the Ulster Under-12 Cross Country finals today. From a field of 151 competitors over a distance of 1.7km; Kyle finished in 21st position & Steven in 44th place.
Unfortunately only those placed in the top 15 qualify for the Irish Finals.
